How Does The Poker Hands Ranking Work?
Those who are experienced in playing online poker are well aware of the poker hands ranking. But for those who are still amateurs or are beginners will have to take their time to learn the complete ranking system. Remember to stop by our poker training section.

The ranking system decides what beats what in the game of poker. Every player makes combination of 5 cards which he is dealt with. This is done by predetermined rules. Each combination is called a hand. At the end of the game the hands are compared with each other. The player with the most valuable hand wins.
Poker Hands Ranking System
Though the ranking system might be a bit different for different games, it is used in other card games as well. The usual ranking is given below for your convenience.
- Royal Flush. Royal flush has the highest value. These include 5 cards from card 10 to ace with all the five cards belonging to the same suit. It doesn’t matter which suit it is, because in poker all suits have the same value unlike some other card games.
- Straight flush. In poker hands ranking, after Royal Flush comes Straight Flush in which the 5 cards could start from any number, but they have to be in sequence and should belong to the same suit.
- Four of a kind. Then comes four of a kind in which four out of five cards are of the same rank belonging to all the different suits like aces of all suits. If two players have four of a kind then their fifth card decides the winner of the two.
- Flush. A normal flush has any five cards belonging to the same suit. They don’t have to be consecutive. The highest card present in that five will determine the value of the flush.
- Straight. In straight, the five cards are in consecutive order but they don’t belong to the same suit. They could belong to any number of suits.
- Three of a kind. It is just like four of a kind except that these are three cards of the same rank, like triple Aces.
- Two Pair. In two pair, players make two pairs of same rank twos. For example the best possible combination here would be 2 Aces, 2 Kings. Similarly there is One Pair in which there is only one pair of two similar cards. This therefore is the main order of the poker hands ranking.
