Full Tilt shut down was enforced on their main site, this past Friday. The U.S. government seized this super star poker site (an online poker site.)

Full Tilt poker was the target of the latest in a long time of site take downs. The U.S. FBI was investigating all the big name sites, which including huge names like Poker Stars, and Absolute poker.

All the .COM TLD extensions where taken down on this poker sites due to money laundering, bank fraud, and several other criminal activities taking place within the companies. Eleven people were caught up in the ordeal after being investigated.

 

 

 

The shut downs came as a shut to the poker communities. People feared for their bank balance, but they were soothed by the company’s protection assurances… at least for players outside the United States that is.

The poker giants had to suspend and freeze all money transactions with U.S. players, in accordance to the United States government.

Due to foresight of a Full Tilt poker shut down, had a backup site, at the .NET TLD, as did all the Poker Stars and Absolute poker. Any player wishing to check out the number one ranked sites (the .COMs) of these sites, will be meet with an FBI warning message of domain seizure. It’s similar to the ones seen for file sharing operations.

The premise of the shutdown was that the big poker companies were disguising payments to bypass federal laws. The prosecutors state that billions of dollars in online transactions were slowly added to American player’s bank accounts via this circumvention. In turn, the United States government stepped in.

It’s hard to say how this take down will affect the companies in the long run. In reality, it was only a matter of time before anti-gambling act tightened its grip. It’s fairly obvious that the top online poker sites are furious. There is surely loads of politicking behind the scenes that was the ultimate cause for the Full Tilt shut down.
